Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner is the oldest shampoo that Autoglym sells. Despite it’s age, it holds up extremely well when compared to newer formulas.
Quality
As you would expect from such a respected brand, BSC is a high quality product, at a low price point. One thing that I really like about it is the fact that it smells great! Having used a lot of shampoos over the years, I’ve had my fair share of terrible smelling ones!
In addition to this, the shampoo brings about excellent results and easily cuts through road dirt and grime. It doesn’t provide a massive amount of suds when compared to other products on the market. However, it is incredibly slick. For the many, many years I’ve been using it, there’s never been a time that I’ve been worried that I’ll scratch the paint due to the lack of suds.
When using a microfibre wash mitt, it glided over the paintwork effortlessly and it felt silky smooth afterwards. One thing to point out as well as that this shampoo is pH neutral. The significance of this is that it will not cause any premature degradation of any LSP (last stage of protection) that you have on the car. The shampoo also contains rinse aides, meaning that any left over residue will come off of the car extremely easy with minimal amounts of water.
Value for Money
Another huge plus point for BSC is the fact that a little goes a long way! When I use it, I put 20 mls into a 10 litre bucket which brings about excellent results. Generally speaking, I order the 2.5 litre version each time. By using just 20 ml, I can get 125 washes out of one bottle! If you wash your car religously every week, and you use the same dilution ratios as me, one bottle will last for over two years!
Intended Applications
This one might sound a bit strange, but it’s use is on a case by case basis. As mentioned above, I’ve never been afraid marring my paint when using this. However, I wash my car every week (or at leas try to), although this is more difficult in the winter. When it comes to cleaning a car that has a large amount of dirt, mud and grit on it, I tend to use a shampoo that has more suds on it. This is just to make sure that the suds can encapsulate the dirt and safely drag it away from the paint.
It’s not just the paintwork that I use this shampoo on. I also like to use it on my alloy wheels. The reason for this is that it also has a small amount of wax in at as well, which helps to top up the wax protection I have on the wheels. Likewise, I also use it on the glass and mirrors and it will add a slight beading effect to these, meaning that they will be easier to get rain water off of.
Even if it is the case that I’ve used a different shampoo in the winter months to get off the high level of grit and road grime, I’ll still clean the car again with Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner in a few key areas. These are in the wheel arches, as well as in the door jambs.
