Spray wax products have become more popular in recent years. There are a lot of spray waxes available on the market, some of which are better than others. They are by and large fairly easy to apply, although application varies between brands. All of the waxes underneath also contain Carnuba wax, of varying concentrations.

Turtle Wax Hybrid Wax

Turtle Wax are industry leaders when it comes to car protection. They have in the past had a bit of a reputation for having products which weren’t particularly long lasting. This was changed with the release of their Hydrid Wax. In short, this is brilliant!

Hybrid Wax is actually one of the easiest spray waxes that I’ve applied in recent years. It can be used in two ways, wet or dry. If the car is still wet, two sprays are enough to put onto the panel. Then it’s just the matter of using a microfibre cloth to dry off the panel.

When using it on dry paint, it’s a slightly different approach. It needs to sprays, and then spread over the paint using a microfibre cloth. Then, after this, a separate microfibre cloth is needed to buff off the remaining residue. This is a really quick and straightforward process.

Despite it being a spray wax, it has lasted for 2 months. This is really impressive and definitely worth the money.
The gloss levels are excellent, and it’s surprising how great this wax is at such a cheap price point.

Autoglym Rapid Aqua Wax

Autoglym are another well known detailing company with a large and wonderful history. The easiest to use protection product in their range is Rapid Aqua Wax. Aqua Wax comes in part of a kit, and is designed to be used when the car is wet. In the kit there is the wax itself, as well as two microfibre cloths.

The application of it is incredibly straightforward. One spray of of the wax onto one panel is more than sufficient. One microfibre cloth is used to spread the wax on the panel, and the other is used to buff it back off.

Rapid Aqua Wax is a great, and cost effective product which is also a great drying aid. It also works great with Super Resin Polish, also from Autoglym.

Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Wax

Meguiar’s are well known around the world for their high quality detailing products. Hybrid Ceramic Wax is a curious spray wax. Whilst it has Ceramic in the name, it’s not quite a ceramic coating. Instead, it has ceramic like properties. It is infused with SiO2 which provides a high level of durability and longevity. It is actually one of the pricier spray waxes on the market.

The application is also slightly different. The first time it is applied, it is done on a wet car. The ceramic wax is buffed off and the car is dried. Subsequent applications of the wax can be sprayed on, and then rinsed off. This is actually a nice and easy process. Following these steps will extend the lifespan of the Ceramic Wax.

The results are also impressive. The lifespan that they are seeing from the wax is also highly impressive. Some people though have had problems with streaking after it has been applied. To resolve this, it is imperative that the bottle is properly shaken before applied to the paint. This will ensure the active components are properly mixed together.

Turtle Wax Hybrid Dry and Shine

Another entry from Turtle Wax! This is a bit of a different product. It offers excellent protection and gloss levels, although the protection is a bit shorter than the Hybrid Wax. What sets this apart from the others on the list is that it is a spray on and rinse off product.

This is the ideal solution for those that want to protect their car and dry it quickly at the same time. The reason why it is at the bottom of the list is the fact that some people have had severe streaking issues with it. As with Meguiar’s Ceramic Wax, it is important that the Dry and Shine is thoroughly mixed. A strong mix will ensure the ingredients are mixed together.

There is no initial treatment required with Dry and Shine, unlike Meguiar’s Ceramic Wax. It is also cheaper than Meguiar’s. The ease and speed of application really is a selling point for this one. When I used it, I misted the wax over one panel at a time. This was then rinsed off pretty much immediately. I repeated this process for every other panel on the car. By doing this, I did not see any streaks on the car. This will actually cause the water to sheet off the car, so you do not need to dry it. If there are any droplets of water left, this can be easily removed with a drying towel.
