I have been using the intensive tar remover from Autoglym for quite a while now. It was the case that beforehand with my black car, I just did not realize how much tar the car would pick up. However, having a white car has indicated how much tar can stick to the paint work.
Intensive Tar Remover Ease of Use
The application of the product is a bit different from other tar removers on the market. A lot of them come in a spray bottle. However, in the case of Autoglym’s offering, it is the case that you instead apply the liquid to a microfibre pad or cloth, and then apply it to the paint work.
Some might class this is a downside, but by default, tar removers are powerful detergents. From that point of view, it makes sense to have a more methodical approach when it comes to applying it to the bodywork. This is especially true on older cars where the paint may have been neglected by the previous owner. Likewise, applying a tar remover as strong as Intensive Tar Remover to every part of the car could cause damage to the components.
It can also be used to remove tar deposits on alloy wheels as well. After winter, I usually use Intensive Tar Remover and also Magma to help deep clean the wheels before applying a layer of protection to them.
Intensive Tar Remover Results
The Intensive Tar Remover really does make short work of the tar spots that are on the car. After just under a minute of having applied it to the paint work, the tar deposits were washed away with ease.
One cause of concern for many when it comes to using a tar remover is the fact that it may end up causing damage to any LSP (last stage of protection) that is on the car. I am glad to say that when it comes to Autoglym Ultra HD Wax, the tar remover did not cause any visible degradation.
However, had the wax been on for several months, it could very well be the case that the tar remover would help speed up the degradation process. I certainly would not recommend using this to strip any old wax from the car though. It would not be economical to do this. It could also have damaging effects to it as well.
With respect to safety, it should be noted that gloves must be worn when using Intensive Tar Remover. I would also recommend using eye protection. Likewise, it has an extremely strong smell to it and should only be used in well ventilated areas. This is a powerful product and should be treated as such.
It can also be used to remove polish and wax residue from painted, plastic trim which is a great option. In that case, it should be applied directly to a microfibre cloth and gently rubbed over the trim to remove this residue.
