Using a car glass polish is an excellent way to get a deep and effective clean on neglected car glass. I’ve previously covered my favourite car glass cleaners. However, there can be times when you need that extra bit of cleaning power, which is where a high quality car glass polish comes in.

The polishes on this list have been used on various cars that have had their windows neglected. Water spots have been left on the glass for a considerable period of time before using these polishes to remove them.

Autoglym Car Glass Polish

I’ve covered Autoglym Car Glass Polish in more depth in this review, but for those short of time, I’ll summarise here what makes it so exceptional.

The first is the price. At the time of writing, this is just over £7. For those short on a budget, this offers great value for money. The reason for this is the great cleaning power that it offers.

The application is very easy, all you need is a small amount of polish on a high quality applicator pad. It is then worked into the glass using circular motions. I then like to finish it off in straight lines. After a few minutes to let it haze over, it can be easily buffed away with a high quality microfibre cloth.

Not only did it cut through the road dirt and grime with ease, but it also effortlessly removed the majority of the water spots. There were only one or two left over that needed a second application of the polish to remove them. Considering that it’s easy and quick to use, this isn’t much of a hardship to re-apply to fully remove them.

It is also great on the inside of the glass. It previously had an anti-misting effect, but this is no longer in the formulation. If you want to stop your windows steaming up, a great option is the Rain-X Anti-Fog.

Gtechniq G4 Nanotech Glass Polish

Gtechniq has been covered a lot on this site. Time and again I’ve been impressed with the quality of their products, and the Nanotech Glass Polish is no exception. Gtechniq have made this polish as a pre-cursor before you apply their glass coating. However, for this test I have used it as a way to deep clean the glass and remove the embedded water spots.

Much like the Autoglym glass polish, G4 Nanotech Glass Polish provided an exceptional clean. It took a tad longer to apply and work into the glass when compared to the Autoglym polish, but the results were fantastic. The grime on the glass melted away as if it was nothing. It also removed the water spots on the first attempt.

It is marginally more expensive than the Autoglym offering, so you would need to weigh up if the additional cost is worth the one time pass needed to deep clean the glass as opposed to a double pass in extreme situations with Autoglym.

I was really happy with the quality of the clean with it and it’s easy to see why so many people like to use this. It provided a streak free finish and made the glass look as though it was brand new.

If you’re also going to apply Gtechniqs glass sealant, this is a necessity and will ensure that your glass is perfectly clear before the sealant is laid down on it.

Meguiar’s Perfectly Clarity Glass Polishing Compound

Meguiar’s glass polish is the most expensive on this list, and it offers excellent results.

As you’d expect from Meguiar’s, the quality of cleaning is fantastic. Out of all of the glass polishes on this list, in my testing it took the longest to apply and haze over before I buffed it off. This may be a deal breaker for some, so it’s something that I’ve had to include in this overview.

The glass looked amazing at the end of the testing, and the water spots that previously plagued the glass had disappeared completely. You would never had known that there had been any on it in the first place.

One thing I did notice is that there was a small amount of dusting from the polish when buffing it off. I didn’t notice this on the Autoglym or Gtechniq glass polishes. This isn’t a huge issue for me, but puzzling when I used the correct amount of polish as recommended by Meguiar’s. This aside, the finish was definitely worth the time spent on it and it leaves the glass looking flawless.

If you’re going to add a Meguiar’s glass sealant, this is a great pre-cleanser for your glass.
